World Cup Soccer: USA v Trinidad & Tobago

Wednesday I had the privilege of shooting the World Cup Qualifying match between the United States and Trinidad & Tobago. The United States won 3-1. For details see: http://tinyurl.com/c4j4ph

Above, Forward Clint Dempsey drives past a defender. The lighting was good. I shot in RAW at ISO 2000. I had to bump the exposure in post a little bit. Left, Midfielder DaMarcus Beasley dives over a defender. These guys are amazing athletes. Beasley is the fastest guy I have ever seen! Of course, "The Man" is Landon Donovan, below. World Cup Soccer: USA v Trinidad & Tobago

I have the privilege of shooting the United States Men's Soccer World Cup Qualifying match with Trinidad & Tobago at LP Field in Nashville on Wednesday. I'm excited to shoot this event because I've not shot professional soccer before. I'm sure I won't have a long enough lens, but I'm going to try to get the action in front of the goal. I'll post some shots when I get back. Here's the link: http://tinyurl.com/c27byt.

Don't Take That Shot ... This Time.

Sometimes it's best NOT to take pictures. Sports are exciting, but concentration is essential. I think exposing (no pun intended) a person who is nervous about their performance to significant photographic equipment and attention may not produce the results you are anticipating. Sometimes it takes an effort to conceal the camera and get the shot in a fashion that does not elevate the pressure on the subject in an already tense situation. Wait until they are more confident. Wait until they want to see pictures of themselves. Show them that you are not there to embarrass them, but to try to make them look as good as possible. If the time is not right ... wait. You'll have more opportunities.

Wells Wilson -- What kind of a name is that?

I used to wonder why I got two last names -- Wells & Wilson. Now I'm grateful. One of my goals when deciding on a domain name, or other address, is to make it as simple and easy to remember as possible. With common names, sometimes the address becomes a little convoluted to make it descriptive and still contain elements of the common name. Well, with Wells Wilson that's not a problem. Another Wells Wilson, Wells P. Wilson, knows what I'm talking about.

Thanks Mom & Dad.

My first stab at a blog. Here it is. Thanks for checking in.
